Snore Operation

Sometimes, a surgical procedure may be required to stop the condition. These operations can only be done using surgical techniques. One example is somnoplasty. This uses heat energy to alter tissues. This procedure is performed under local anesthesia in an outpatient setting. However, this procedure is not recommended for people with sleep apnea.

Snoring can be treated by a number of surgical procedures. Most cases are successful and can reduce or eliminate the snoring. Some procedures can reduce the volume and size of the soft palate which can contribute to snoring. Each patient will have different results.

Recent studies show that minimally invasive surgery can decrease snoring. Patients with obstructive or sleep apnea had modest results. Patients are often interested in minimally invasive surgery even though there isn't much evidence.

MMA surgery

MMA surgery for snoring is a procedure that can make it easier to breathe and help you sleep better. It uses radiofrequency to create controlled lacerations in soft tissue obstructions. Scarring reduces flappy tissue volume and stiffens the rest of the tissue. It can be performed on different parts of your airway, such as the soft palate and base of your tongue. Local anesthesia is used for this procedure.

The success rate in MMA surgery has been extremely high. Two to three weeks after the surgery, patients can resume normal functioning. A skilled and experienced surgeon is required for this procedure.

Laser-assisted uvulopalatoplasty

Laser-assisted Uvulopalatoplasty (or LAUP) is a surgical procedure that addresses the root causes of loud, habitual snoring. It is performed with local anesthesia. To open the oropharyngeal and nasal airways, a CO2 laser will be used. Although it isn't effective in eliminating all types of snoring, LAUP has shown promising results in reducing the severity of upper airway resistance syndrome.

LAUP is a single-stage procedure performed under local anaesthesia. The procedure is performed by a highly experienced ENT physician. The patient is then positioned in a seated posture while wearing protective glasses. The surgeon applies a 10% solution of lidocaine to the palate and base area of the tongue. In addition, 2% mepivacaine is injected on either side of the base of the uvula. The laser is attached to the patient's face via a handpiece. This is a common surgery procedure. A "backstop" prevents the laser damaging the posterior of the pharynx.

Ruhrpumpen surgery

In many patients, lifestyle changes and medications are not enough to cure their snoring. Ruhrpumpen may be the only treatment. This radiofrequency energy procedure creates controlled lesions in the soft tissues. These scars reduce the airway size and help to strengthen the tissue. This procedure can be done on many areas of the airway including the base of the tongue and soft palate. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia.

This surgery may be beneficial for patients who suffer from severe or persistent snoring. The procedure involves the surgical removal of excess soft tissue and sometimes the uvula. This procedure has been used for decades in treating chronic snoring. However, new techniques are constantly being developed to improve results.
